Personality: At 15 years old, she is a bit of an oddity speaking and acting like someone much younger. She’s physically and mentally stuck at six years old, so she’s dependant on the people around her (especially emotionally). The best example of this is when she wants to nap or sleep. She hates to sleep alone because “When I’m alone, I feel lonely.” This is also a connection to her recently deceased grandpa, as he used to let her nap and sleep with him. Despite how she acts and looks, she hates to be referred to as a child.
She is very introverted and her expressionless emotions often push people away (although she does like Reimi and Edge). This is often because they’re unsure how to take her, often coming across as rather creepy. She’ll often make up her mind rather quickly (almost instantly) on whether she likes someone or not. Her liking someone means she allows them to call her “Lym”, and means they get dubbed with a nickname (Edgie, Reirei, Merry, Sarry, and Mattie, for examples). On the other hand, this also mean that she decides whether she doesn’t like someone rather quickly (They must call her lymle, and she will refuse to give them a nickname) and that opinion is hard to change. If she doesn’t like someone, she will childishly and bullheadedly try to just be contradictory – for example, Reimi makes cookies and lymle really likes them… until Faize says he likes them too. Then she refuses to eat anymore, stating that she ‘doesn’t like any cookies dumb ol’ faize likes’. Her attitude to Faize does appear to change, but she refuses to show it (However, her attitude to that is similar to a six-year old crushing on someone, deliberately being mean and going out of the way to declare she doesn’t like him, even as she’s moping about him having left the ship and later when she cries over him being close to dying).
Though she is still young, Lymle is brave, never really showing any fear though that may partly be because she rarely shows much emotion at all. When she told her grandfather she was going north to see the Oracle, she made it sound as though she was just going out to play instead of going on a dangerous trip through a land covered in monsters. She also cares deeply about her friends, despite the lack of emotion she shows. She is also dependant on others emotionally and craves attention, probably because she had few friends on Lemuris and recently lost her last remaining relative.
From time to time, Lymle displays a sort of child-like wisdom. At one point in the game, she declares that she will not hate the Cardianon that invaded her home world anymore because they were victims of the Epiphanies of Guidance – odd meteors that are neither rock nor metal that affects a planet’s evolutionary path and corrupt it. Lymle understood that the sequence of events that led to her home being attacked was not truly the fault of the Cardianon and forgave them. However, because of the events on her homeworld, she doesn’t like violence that could be seen as unnecessary or avoided, judging by what she says in one of her private actions with Edge.
She is the alleged greatest symbologist (or magician/shaman) of the village and is able to summon a powerful being named Cerberus, whom she treats as a pet. The ‘doggy’ is unerringly loyal to her, and follows her commands even to the point of being taught tricks like a child might teach a regular dog. It, however, has a habit of not doing as anyone else tells him or being more reluctant to follow commands. During combat, she can usually be found in the back attacking with symbols and her wand.
Strengths: -She can use both ranged and close attacks with her wand.
-She gets a variety of magic, and is a powerful caster, but her strength lies in fire
-Being a ranged fighter means she can make up for her lack of HP with powerful symbols without taking too much damage
-She’s loyal and stubborn. She doesn’t give up easily
-Despite her emotions being expressionless, through the course of the game, she seems to be able to express herself easier and slowly seems to be able to show some feeling, even if it still seems to show through almost superficially.
-Her ‘doggy’ will possibly eat your face if you threaten her too badly…
Weaknesses: - She can be stubborn to a fault. Also, her loyalty can lead her into trouble and lead her to pick fights she can’t win alone.
-She can act rather spoilt
-Doesn’t have high HP or strength
-Her lack of expression in her emotions and voice can discourage people from having relations with her as they find her creepy.
-She has little world and life experience, having never been off her world before her mission to save the world. This also means she can be rather clueless and/or naïve about things that would be mostly common knowledge.
-She acts and has the attitude of a child most of the time… but she hates it when people only see her as a child.
History: Her wiki page
First Person Sample: [When the feed switches on, Lymle pokes at it a little longer. Her planet hasn’t got any technology this advanced and on the starship, she wasn’t so interested in that kind of thing. Not when there was much more interesting things to be looking at and doing.]
What is this? It looks really weird, ‘kay?
[she doesn’t appear to be talking to anyone but herself. Then, she sees herself in the video feed] It’s me? Is it like what was on the ship, kay? Am I talking to people, ‘kay? [And because it makes sense that if she’s here, then her friend will be.]Edgie. Reirei. Everone. I don’t like it here, ‘kay? And you could have woken me up from nappy time before we got here, ‘kay?
Third Person Sample: Lymle sighs, letting the water in the lake lap at her feet as they dangle over the edge. Her shoes and socks lay discarded beside her, and the cold water doesn’t seem to bother her much – her home planet was all cold and ice, and the water feels nice on her feet, and not too cold for her. The orange and black dog at her side seems to notice her slightly melancholy mood, and moves closer to her, resting his head on her lap, where she absently pets him. Lymle kind of likes it here, and has new friends... but it doesn’t mean she doesn’t miss her old ones.
She looks up to the sky above, the night’s sky littered with stars, wondering where they are. “Edgie… Reirei… everyone… Hurry up and come get me soon, ‘kay?” She speaks quietly at the sky, almost as if she thinks they’d be able to hear her. She knows they won’t hear her, but there’s something almost comforting about saying it aloud. Like if she says it like they might hear her, she might not feel so alone or miss them so much. And yet she does.
After a few minutes more, she gets her feet under her and stands. The look she gives Cerberus is obviously fond, even if it’s hard to see it unless you’ve been around her to be able to read her shallow expressions. She rubs the beast’s head – the way they are, one might not think he was a hellbeast at all, if not for the fire, but merely a regular pet. Especially when she says to it “Let’s go get you a cookie, ‘kay doggy?” to receive a bark. At least Lym knows one of her friends will always be next to her to keep her company.
She really doesn’t like to be alone. Because that’s when she feels lonely.
